Generic Lambda sensors

Can I use a generic £25 Lambda sensor in my 98 VVTi or is this A Bad Idea?

If so, what do I need? I see there are 'Zirconia' type ones which have heater resistance from 2 to 6.5 ohms and output from 0.1 and 0.9 volts

or 'Titania' types ones which have 4 to 7 ohms heater resistance and output either between 0 and 1 volt or between 0 and 5 volts.

I think our cars are the 4 wire, 0v to 1v type, correct?

Ah bugger, I 've just noticed that all the 4-wire generic type ones seem to be 0v to 5v.

Anyone know of anywhere that sells the right ones for a Supra?

we got a place called andrew watts in glasgow where i got them from. just bought a bosch universal type. spoke to this guy before and he said that the voltages of the wires might be different and it can mess up the ecu. but i just said to myself.....yeah why not and its worked out ok.

Well it's a four wire sensor on my VVTi. (Black, Black, Blue, White)

The VVTi 2JZ-GTE was never sold in the USA.

Where dd you get yours from, Gaz?

Can anyone confirm whether the Supras use a 0-5v or 0-1v outputting Lambda sensor?

I was just about to order one of these:

http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/lambda_sensors.php

but amazingly the guys there don't know whether their Four Wire Universal Sensor is a 1v or 5v output!

Edit:

Apparently it's a 0.1 to 1.0 volt output. Will that work?
