roscodav
My Sup is having some problems and it is starting to really worry me. The two main symptoms are as follows. 1> Increased driving noise, especially under high revs, accelleration. I first thought this was when the car was going a bit rapidly that the exhaust what vibrating on the underside somewhere or the rear bumper. After much chcking I am 95% sure it insnt. This is now getting more and I can feel a bit of vibration through the body... 2> Performance.... I am still getting full boost, and the turbos are noticably cutting in and you can feel them doing their job but in my opinion, and it may just be paranoya. It is not as lively as it used to be. The second turbo especially doesnt give as much kick as I remember and at low revs the car feels heavy. I am not smoking and as mentioned both turbos are getting to the boost that they have always reached (9psi on 1st, 14psi on 2nd). So I have two questions. Firstly any ideas.... Secondly, on the offchance that it is purely my imagination where is there a good place in the Sussex area that I can take the ol girl to an say, there are a few things niggling me, can you see what you think and give it a check over..... Before anyone suggests my local Toyota dealer then I suggest trying them personally. They generally ill not even look at my car let alone make a diagonosis. They have import phobia. Any help is apprechiated as each and every drive is depressing me now with the thought that she is slowly dieing.
Scooter
1) could be a wheel bearing gone / going. Maybe jack up and feel for play, easy to do and something to eliminate at least. Sussex area:- i believe a member has somewhere in the past recommended a non-toyota garage that deals with all JIC's cars.

Use genuine Toyota parts and mainly do JDM. Every time I have been to the premises they are 2 or 3 other Supras waiting. Excellent service, always done on time and only £40 per hour labour. Very knowledgable too although they will want your VIN plate details if you book it in for any work. ATB

AJI
I take it you've checked the back-box mountings? There should be rubber rings holding it in place to the underside of the car. If you're making full boost then the power drop off may well be in your head as you're thinking there may be some sort of problem. Other than that I'm not too sure what it could be on an auto car. roscodav
I have checked the exhaust mountings and they are all solid and fine. I am popping down to see the above mentioned garage for a quick guestimate as to any problems. So fingers crossed.
roscodav
Right I went to the Woodcock Garage and I can recomend then strongly so far. Very helpful, spent about 30 minutes checking out my car to diagnose the problem all at no cost. They also seamed to know what they were taliking about on the Jap cars etc. Turns out that my problems are coming from a partially seezed rear caliper, which means that I need new calipers on the back, my front discs and pads are knackered and need changing also (but I knew that). Oh dear upgrad to UK spec time... but wait I have tiny little Jap spec 16" wheels... well I do need these brakes, any it will save money in the long run... time to get some decent 18" alloys for the new brakes to snuggle behind.... its has to be done. Tough call..... or at least that is the way that the conversation with my better half went
Darren
or at least that is the way that the conversation with my better half went PMSL - I find its better not to involve the other half in Supra projects...they only get upset! Although my cars been away for two weeks now so me thinks shes sussed I'm up to something:D
Branners
make very sure any wheels you buy are guaranteed to go over UK brakes, get wherever you buy them from to put it in writing that if they dont fit you wont take them. The UK brakes are very large and most aftermarket wheels wont fit. JB
