Poncho
Hi all:) for the last few weeks i have been looking to get some wheels for my supra, my mot is coming up and i dont want to put new tyres on my old standard rims, cos the lacquer is "knackered" on them. however, every time i see some nice ones i get told "they wont fit" im aware of the caliper situation on uk models, but i have an import, so dont "think" thats a prob for me! here is the latest example: Tenzo R rs-5 wheels : 17x7, 10 Hole, PCD 100/114.3, ET 42mm I was told: "I’m afraid these rims won’t fit your car as they are far too narrow" any ideas? thanks for any help:)
_Rob_
iirc stock rims are 9x16 on the rear and 8x16 on the front. if you purchased the 7x17 your on about, you will be narrower than stock. guess thats what he means. im not to sure on the offset for the supe, but 7 inch wide wheels, in my opionion are definately too small. i had 7.5inch wheels on a 1.0 pug 106 when i was 17! Scooter
however, every time i see some nice ones i get told "they wont fit" im aware of the caliper situation on uk models, but i have an import, so dont "think" thats a prob for me! 1) if you have 16" stock wheels at the moment, then you have the smaller caliper brakes and so more wheels will fit. 2) Absolute minimum should really be 8" front and 9" rear, however 8" all round is quite common and 7.5" and 8.5" could be ok (the same tyres could be fitted) 3) 2nd hand could be the way to go, you are looking for the above widths, 17"-19" diameter, PCD 114.3 and an offset of between 38-50. 38 will fill the arches better (cosmetic), nearer 50 is nearer stock(better handling)
JamieP
speak with ibrar of pro alloys, he knows supra's and will sort you out:)
merckx
On a 7" wheel the max tyre size would be a 215. There's loads of 8" wheels out there.

Ibrar Jabbar
As mentioned before 7" rims are way to narrow. Minimum widths I recommend are 8" front and 9" rear, If you are on a budget I can supply these wheels http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=56645 (new stock arriving mid May). merckx
Don't go any wider than a 245 though!
Guest Garfy
If it where me I wouldn't go for the same width alround they are wider on the back as standard for a reason, you could end up upsetting the ballance of the car.
Poncho
my latest reply from a trader: Bad news again I'm afraid - these won't clear the brakes on your car according to Tenzo. They have a limited run of some white or black GT5's in stock with a special 25mm offset which WILL clear the alloys i was asking for this time were: 18x8, PCD 114.3, ET 45mm what am i missing here?!? is he assuming i have uk brakes?
