apoc_reg
Hi Guys, Im changing my front brake pads on my MKIV supra and have hit a problem Got my wheels off and removed the old pads but when i put my new ones in the brake pistons are to far out to go over the new thicker pads. If i try to push them back in a bit i cant (i have removed the brake fluid lid) What do i need to do to retract the brake pistons? Thanks for any help, its much appreciated

Scooter
there are proper tools for the this, can't remember thier name off hand but they are like big pliers/molegrips. However if can be done by placing two pieces of wood, one on the piston and one butting up to the caliper opposite. Use bits of wood that 'just' allow a gap to put the spanner in (a long one will help with leverage) and lever it, to basically force the piston back in. Quite alot of pressure is needed to get the piston moving so watch out for the wood popping out of the caliper side as swearing/hand damage can result!
