Guest mk47
Right then about 4 weeks back my car wouldnt start and it seemed to be an immobiliser fault - i have a 2nd toad immobiliser which you have to poke the lil key fob into to disengage it, anyway so that particular evening it wouldnt seem to work so i tried the 2nd back up fob and that didnt work either, being late in the evening the place who i bought the set up from was closed, so called the aa.. he comes out all happy dappy and chirpy as they are, gets out some scissors and snips away. "there u go mate all done":d and im confused as to where i stand with my warranty etc. he says oh no dont worry ull be covered under warranty just go back to where you had it fitted and request a replacement. so i go to autotronics the next day, who book me in about 3 weeks later, and come to the conclusion "the wires have been cut so we cant do anything about it, and your warrantys void due to that matter" when i clearly explained the day i booked it in what the situation was. so a waste of time. called up AA this evening.. (according to website i can register a complaint via phone..) and hes like oh sorry we cant help u over the phone u have to put it in writing. D*CKHEADS! im so pissd off and have a strong feeling that theyre not gonna offer me any sort of compensation or replace my immob!!

merckx
I wouldn't blame the AA bloke at all if he's cut the immobliser wires to get you started. If you couldn't deactivate the immobiliser in the first place then that's where the fault is. The idiots at Autotronics are the ones to blame, how else did they expect you to get the car started. merckx
Like you say, the AA bloke should've asked first. Probably best to contact the AA and see what they've got to say. Whoever's to blame you shouldn't have to pay a penny.
Daston
I had this on my MR2 the day before I was going to sell it the reciver decided to pack up called the RAC and he was really good was like a mobile F1 team however he couldnt get it to work and didnt want to damage anything so towed me home (was 1am) and then picked me up the next morning to tow me to a tech place. Pete
Why can't the alarm installers just rewire it back up to how it should be? If it's faulty then they replace it. If it works then offer to pay for the rewire I guess. Why does everything have to be so much hassle all the time?

andrew7
Write to the AA. They are reasonalble people. You could point out that as the wires are all the same colour the AA guy should have marked them before he cut them, in order for them to be re-attached for diagnostics on the unit. And I sort of agree with Autotronics, after all you wouldn't want them connected up wrongly and fek something else up on your car, would you?.. It's the AA's fault really...
