Bill Prawn
I think it would be great to have a regular meet of the club. This could take place in each of the areas on a bi or tri monthly basis. This would be the official mkivsupra.net meet for xyz area. Held at the same place, same time, same day. So it's easy to remember. Then culminating in a single national event. At the moment it seems the events have no real order and the 'I'm perhaps having a barbie' and 'come to a possible trackday' all seem to dilute the event schedule. I and I think others would rather go to one event with 20+ cars than go to three with less than five. I expect to get flamed for this but what the hell, that's what this forum is for. I enjoy my car and think that all others on here do too, so let's try and get a more official and organised metting system.

terribleturner
There's already the Fairmile meet each and every month, but would be nice to see others.
SupraStar 3000
totally agree Tim. To many smaller events dilute attendance at the regular meets. Lets get a regular event planned
Tom S
Tim, there are national events that the club can get interested in. There are regional meets we all go to, I this year have been to, Bubble Inn, Harrogate / York, Squires, these are mini meets. Problems are that alot of Southerners will not travel up north. Whereas all of the main meets are in the south. It would be good if the whole club would come north for a change, say the Scottish meet 3rd June, as the scottish guys have the furthest to travel for all of the other meets. Tom S
So the usual suspects agree, with you Tim, so how about putting something together in the members section and see what part of the country you want this to go ahead. i will travel or set up, but we do need to look at a more central location for the UK. Also the xmas meet should allow the whole club to attend but is always set up in the far south

supragold
The last Colchester Meet had 23 cars turn up throughout the day. Loads of us over here. I don't mind travelling either if I know theres going to be a few there. Don't like driving miles when there could only be 3 or 4 so I think its a great idea. These are national meets for all not just this club. Plus as you say mini meets. Not an official meet of the club. The North/South divide is not an arguement. If we had a single national meet, centrally located (UK not England) people would come as long as it was known about and worthwhile. The bi or tri monthly meet could be the Buble (i hope not) or the Fairmile or whatever, but it wuld be nice to have some sort of acknowledgement that they are supra meets and not free for alls. Ark
My point there Rosie, the midlands is still 4 hrs from the NE, so add another 2-3 hours for the scottish peeps. It's also about three hours from the Southampton area, so add another big chunk if you're coming up from Devon or Kent... So that's no great news-flash. The big problem you're facing is that an internet presence is easy (just look how busy the boards are during the week, when everyone is piloting a desk) but actually getting people moving and meeting takes lots of effort and promised reward. I'm trying to organise a regular Hampshire meet - loads of people in the area, including lots of very regular BBS users, yet I've only got 4 people showing an interest. mawby
If you want a 'National' .net only club event, my advise would be don't. Start with 3. One in the South, one in the Midlands (more towards the West to catch Wales too), and one right up North. See how they go. Try and get more and more people attending them. The events will either get bigger and bigger, in which case people will be prepared to travel further and further to get to them (hence they get bigger, people travel further still, etc etc), they'll stay the same size in which case it's a nice regular meet for people in that area, or they will die off due to lack of interest. I think trying to organise one massive national .net event which is ideally located for everyone to get to and also has the support of members actually turning up is not going to happen in one go. We need to build up to it.

Tom S
This is all a waste of time. If you want a event in your area's contact your local guys, if you want a national event go to one. either way there is no winner and no loser apart from Tim, who wanted 1 club meet.
