Guest stevesupra
Hello all. I have finally got round to joining the forums. I would like to know what is the best way to a stage 1 performance upgrade. I get different opinions from garages etc.I have a jap spec twin turbo with an induction kit and upgraded exhaust. I have been told that a decat, uprated fuel pump, anti fuel cut device and boost controller is the way forward. Is this correct?. Since i have jap turbos is this wise? wkdtime
if yu take both cats out you have to get a restrictor ring, this gives you two options, option 1, have it set to 0.9-1.0bar and then use a boost controller to increase it to 1.2 bar (Max safe limit), pros of this is that, your less likely to get boost spikes, and can have different settings that can suit you, cons is that its expensive. option 2, Set the restrictor ring to 1.1-1.2bar, pros, cheap and effective, cons, more prone to boost spikes, some cars are fine, but as we all know all supesl act differently. Decat, (double or single), FCD, Colder plugs, Uprated fuel pump, Restirctor ring, Electronic boost controller if you go for option 1. HTH
Nic
Welcome to the club Steve. As said, you should be able to find loads of threads on this subject, also check out the FAQ in Tech section. Before increasing the boost, check the condition of your intercooler, if it the original one, then it may well be past its best (missing/corroded cooling fins) and no longer be able to effectively cool the charge temps. If it does look in bad condition, then I'd recommend you replace ithe IC first before upping the boost.
