AlanM
On way home from work last night gave the Supra a wee blast on an empty stretch of road and the Boost Guage caught my eye at 2.2 Bar. Came off throttle (having got a wee bit of a fright) and it settled to just above 0. Car going fine so thought easy for even me tis a burst pipe between sensor and guage or in that bit of the system somewhere. Sitting switched off guage is reading just under 1 Bar (atmospheric?). Seems to be working normally when I take it out, just displaced by +1 Bar. Have looked everywhere for a burst pipe or hose and can't see/hear anything at all. Anyone had this or got any ideas what to do next?
pistonbroke
When the engine is not running the gauge should read 0. Is it an electrical gauge,? if so, it may be like an old greedy electronic gauge that I had that just used to read bull shit all the time. When you come off the throttle, the gauge should read into the vacuum area of the gauge. You've said it stayed just above 0 which points to a knackered boost gauge. wez_p
if it's mechanical see if you can find someone local & just swap them to test it out? 2.2 bar would feel rather harsh i would expect in terms of boost, did it feel any stronger than normal? mine sits at about 15 below zero at idle & zero when off
AlanM
Nah, car is not harsh running normally, so it must be the guage or sensor, hose up to the sensor seems ok, and the guage seems to be reading normally just displaced by +1.0 -1.1 bar. Going to CW's on Saturday so maybe he will have a way of checking it out
pistonbroke
My old Greedy one had a broken wire from the sensor to the gauge causing the BS readings. Sounds similar to yours.
AlanM
Wire looked a bit brittle but seemed to be contacting ok, may replace it anyway just to see if that is the prob. Cheers Mate
