Bobbeh
Kinda sad to see but not totally unexpected I guess. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4929972.stm
colsoop
Thats a shame, perhaps if they got rid of the stigma of unrelaibility things would have changed as the cars do look awesome.
Pete
From 12 cars a week to 2 - that's some drop! Bloody shame as their latest efforts seemed pretty good I thought. I guess there's a lot of competition in that price range and not too many purchasers.

Bobbeh
Kinda goes to show theres more to making a car than making it look nice and go fast. Maybe Toyota should snap them up All would be solved then.

My god what an idea!! that would be perfect, TVR looks with Toyota reliability... unbeatable...
Rayman
One of the sagaris went past me on my cycle the other week and to say it sounded good would be an understatement, it was absolutley fantastic some serious grunt from the engine and big pop/bangs from the exhaust. Like you say the unreliability of them makes them hard to spend that amount of money!
hogmaw
what tends to go wrong with them? anything and everything?
ManwithSupra
I knew someone that had one and his one caught fire about 4 times beacuse of engine heat oh and his electrics sometimes worked and sometimes didnt.

Pete
Don't give up on them yet! If demand has dropped, then of course you'll have to sack a lot of people. Doesn't mean the company is definately going under - just needs to take drastic measures to remain profitable. (At least I hope that's the case - are they profitable?) JohnA
Aweful news. We may laugh at TVRs and their 'handmade' quality but it will be a very sad day when they close their doors. They did fook up with the speedsix engine, bit more than they could chew. If they had decided to use the latest chevvyV8 and built their cars around them I bet sales would have been healthier and complaints lower. Terrible news... JohnA
Not convinced toyota reliablility is what is used to be anymore either!!!. ?! Toyota and Nissan are top of reliability tables. Consistently, unlike jokers like VW or Mercedes
Supragal
?! Toyota and Nissan are top of reliability tables. Consistently, unlike jokers like VW or Mercedes Just going on people who own new Toyos that I know they are always coming into work whinging about problems, cars back at Toyo again, this broken, that broken, cars off the road again. Old toyos and nissans seem to go on forever.
Bobbeh
You have friends that own lemons. Toyota and lexus in particulr are consitently top of reliability and consumer satisfaction surveys both here in Europe and the US. I agree with ya about the 2nd comment. Kinda like the older mercs, they seem to be better built than the newer ones.
Supragal
yeah maybe. yaris seems to be the worst. but I am only basing that on 3 cars. But equally thats 100% of what i've heard. New cars always seem so flimsy and rubbish.
Bobbeh
In terms of quality paint and wheels seem to be affected worse, but I think its usually due to environmental policy changes. IE made with poorer quality materials but are friendlier to the environment.
Supragal
I'm sure it's all progression but the insides of cars always look so cheap and rubbish now, when you shut the door theres no proper "shut" like my old audi used to have. Feel like they'd snap if you slammed them.
Bobbeh
Yup, also think in terms of weight savings. German cars usually had thicker panels but weighed more. I used to see people going around tapping the jap cars because they sounded tinny, even my Dad did this when he looked at an Impreza and noticed a difference that it sounded very tinny compared to the Toyotas we had owned in the past. But again, this is likely due to saving weight to increase performance.
