Dragonball
Regardless of geography this country was built on a sense of pride in the social strata in which one was born / achieved Working class were PROUD to be working class and had working class values (including a suspicion of all things foreign and change in general) Middle class were PROUD to be middle class and had middle class values (including all their petty and not so petty social aspirations) Upper Class were just fecking wierd and liked Rugby and Buggery The Irish, Scots and particulary Welsh all just wished they were English and could talk it 'proper'...now joined by the rest of the worlds population... Only the Indians actually managed to out-English the English and today have all the jobs anyway
Charlotte
Are we getting confused between being happy with what you have got, improving your life and being ambitious? When you say 'we' if you mean me then no. The three examples i gave are about money - nothing to do with ambition. (unless of course your ambition is to win the lottery, appear on big brother etc etc).

Mike
Some of their polices do make sense, but equally they also have a dangerous standpoint on a number of issues. I think a clean version of the BNP would be a success, something like the UKIP tried to be - but failed. Which BNP policies make sense? Nick
oh and the fact that Scotland has supported great britian for many many decades with the north sea oil industry, as if scotland had got its independence back in the 30's or 40's then scotland would have been a very very rich country how ever this source has been abused and used by the british government, all facts submitted and published by the Scottish executive when devolotion was first mentioned Interesting.... Would you have had the money to extract it on your own, without funds put into the coffers by England ???? If people stopped believing everything they watch/read in the media and used their own brains for change we'd have a much stronger and prouder country. Tom S
If anyone comes near me with a one of the flags they'll be picking bits of their arse for weeks. Tom S
Ok, 2 answer Tim's question a little time and thought are needed. I am proud to be English. I am a ex-member of the Royal Air Force and as so I swore my alliegence to queen and country. We have the best armed forces in the world and fought for many years against various oppressions. The SAS are still feared all over the world and their training is copied by loads of other countries. England, ruled the world whether by victory or by negotiation 100's of years ago. We had a reputation as the best boat builders in the world. After 2 world wars and defeating men who wanted to cause suffering all over the world, we where victorious, I am aware that these wars where fought by many countries and we stood firm and never faultered I am proud to be English, I will to this day hobour my promise and defend my queen and HER country. Promises mean a lot to me. I have no doubt that welsh people are proud to be welsh, Scottishg people of scotland and the Irish of ireland. What is wrong is that a Englishman's home is supposed to be his castle, but he cannot say he is English or should about it cos it upsets the Ethnic Minorities. I live in England, not in India, Africa, USA, Russia, Poland etc etc, why is it then that 1 of the most important languages you learn to communicate is English all over the world. No doubt this will cause some problems but sorry if it does. I am not a racist and have many friends (English, Scottish, Welsh, French, German etc), I am just Proud to be English. jamesmark
Makes me laugh how so many of the scotch guys hate England and bang on about what a great place it is and what great people they are, yet they all come down here to work. If scotland is so fantastic why don't they sod off back there? . the only and i mean only reason why i am down here to work is cause my better half's father is terminally ill and she cant move up to scotland, and i know it may not be aimed at myself but i dont hate england. yet they all come down here to work. jake you seem to rely on facts a lot, i dunno if its just boredom or whatever mate but it may intrest you to know that there is more people move to scotland from england and wales than what there is from scotland to england and wales,

What's your source for that? I'd be surprised if that were true. (not saying it isn't, just that I doubt it) my source is the scottish executive in conjuntion with parliament down in england, the national cencus ( when i meet up with him i dont just talk about my supra although that takes up most of the time lol
Syed Shah
Our military (best SF in the world) Our language (the skies etc all English) Our cars (Ultima, Noble the list goes on...) OK I'll take your word for it. Kopite
Been thinking of this for a while and i'm not sure why i'm proud to be British. I consider myself as British/English whatever you want to call it even though my parents are asian. Most people i know consider me to be less cultural than they are As for puttin up flags etc during sporting events only, well i had my England flag up in my room for years until i moved house and now havent got the wall space for it, just got a signed England shirt up as well. Always wear socks with a St. George's Cross on it to work etc, feel proud in doing so. Going back to an earlier comment, when you see some of the shite policies the country is running (mainly the PC crap) then you do feel embarrassed at times. As for the BNP.... well those "rebuilding British Democracy" targets are one aspect of what they want, but let's not kid ourselves, they're using "patriotism" as a weapon to spread racist views. Disagree? Well tell that to my mate's sister's mate who was murdered at a bus stop after a local BNP meeting in Erdington a few years ago. MONKEYmark
whats wrong with been able to vote BNP.people are made to feel like a racist for voting for the BNP.they are a party same as all the others.think people have had enough of all the crap thses days.all this PC bollox.you cant have a flag of your own country in case you seen as racist.whats wrong with been proud of your country.you would not dream of going to another country and asking them to take ther countrys flag down. if you in another country you have to respect there laws.things like when everybody gets behind the country in wars or sports events showing support. when you see the armed forces doing there job to protect us makes you proud.years ago when neighbours used to look out for each other.now people keep themselves to themselves.too much crime now.also it seems like you work hard for a living only for them to find more ways to get money out of you when been a dodgy fooker you get treated with kid gloves. michael
What makes Great Britain great? Answer: The amusing way that most people living here are too blinkered to accept that it used to be pretty good at everything but got left behind a long time ago. Armies that use antique weapons while lacking enough equipment to go around, sports that have to import better players due to a lack of homegrown talent, no real industry to speak of anymore.... look around you, how many things close to you are made in Great Britain? Given the choice of living anywhere in the world and retaining a similar income would you choose to stay here?
GeordieSteve
I'm not shamed to say I vote BNP. All this PC bollocks and tip toeing around immigrants while our pensioners get nothing is just rediculous. I'm in no means racist... hell some of my black muslim friends agree with me! We need to start taking care of ourselves. Aren't we going to be dropping state pension soon (although still pay into it)?

Yeah, stop immigrants coming in that'll work.... but what should we do with all the lazy white folk that sick around claiming the tax I pay? they're the ones we should kick out.... I don't actually think you have the slightest clue what your voting for here... I am saddened that an apparently sane human being has been tricked into voting for these people.... they're human sewage....
