Digsy
Technically, and personal preference aside, will any 75W90 grade do? I know the recommended ones are Motul 300 and Sylkoline Syn5 but I'm having trouble getting small quantities of either locally. My Toyota garage would use Castrol Hypoy LS90 but even they advised me to buy elsewhere if I only need 2litres. Can I just go by the viscocity rating or is there some other property I need to look out for? I notice that a lot of LSD oils specifically mention it on the front of the bottle. Digsy
Yup. They have lots and lots of the Valvoline stuff that is the right grade but makes no specific mention of LSDs. They have two scabby old bottle of Motul 300 with more oil on the outside of the bottle than the inside. Been on the shelf for years and when those go they won't be carrying it anymore. They have some Castrol stuff which for "race only" and does mention LSDs but I think its mineral based, plus the "race only" tag puts me off. They won't order in the Silkolene stuff for two measly litres.
Alex
You do need an LSD compatible oil. Try the Millers Oil website. VCF sell Millers and if they have a suitable 75w90 gear oil then get that for your NA. Actually do you have an LSD or an Open Diff? What's the axle code? Homer
Also, Opie oils should be able to supply it a litre at a time. I bought a couple of litres of silkolene syn5 for £16 inc postage.

JohnK
The manual or CJ's service manuals state that the standard LSD does NOT need special LSD oil.
