Hybrid Turbos

Do you have a UK spec then? If so then no you won't need a restrictor ring but you will need something to raise the boost. ie an EBC or manual bleed valve.

I wouldn't over boost UK spec turbos too much though. They can't take it, despite what some UK groupies will tell you. J-spec ceramic turbos are usually fine to 1.1 or 1.2 bar. Some folks have run 1.3 for years with no problems.

I've got an Apexi AVC'R fitted, wont that raise the boost?

Before anyone tries to replicate blindly I must add:

1. I've got a spare set sitting in the garage, so I won't get depressed if they kick the bucket.

2. They don't compress pure air, but misty stuff. The compressors behave quite differently (although I can't say if it affects overspeeding at all. I'd need a shaft rpm gauge for that)

3. The cylinders do not see funny temperatures, mainly due to water/meth, so detonation is not an issue

4. The oil is always fresh synthetic, I am a bit anal on this one.
