Front indicator mod

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I completed the front indicator mod this weekend but now they blink a little faster, the hazards still work at normal speed though.

Do I also need to install a resistor to slow them down, if so does anyone know which rating?

Yeah though not sure which one. Might be an idea to contact Disgy

Good job I stumbled across this, since you spelled my name wrong ;)

Yeah, as mentioned already an 10Ohm load connected in parallel with the 5W bulb will create a big enough drain to fool the flasher unit into thinking there is really a 21W bulb in there. With the engine off (battery at 12V ish) it will add another 14.4W. With the engine running and the system up around 13.8V or some such it will add nearly 20W. The target is 21-5 = 16W so as a round resistor value, 10Ohms is a good compromise.

One word of warning: Your resistpr will have to be capable of dissipating that power (plus a little headroom for safety). I've just had a lok on the Msplin website and for starters they don't do anything with that power handling capability. You could split the load up into several larger value resistors (all in parallel) to share the power but the available values don't work exactly in terms of total resistance and power handling.

Mr Lover: What kind of resistor did you use?
