Fitting Non-active....Active spoiler

Scooter

Recommended Posts

I know some people have mounted the active spoiler lip in the permanently down position when fitting an FMIC for example, but what elements of the mech are retained and how exactly is it attached?

I assume the end pieces are attached as per stock but what about centrally. Does it require fabricating a bracket to attached to the tow hooks or am i missing something more simple?

cheers

Scott

:) Hi Scooter, yes i done this to my Sup.(see pic)

I removed every part of the active spoiler and retained just the rubber lip section.I then offered up the lip to the bumper and screwed this in place using screws with built in washers along with them metal clip thingies to take the screws, this ensures a good fix.Took me about half an hour.Al.

P.S. In my 'humble' opinion, it's just not worth fitting all the mechanism, just to keep it in the down position.Plus think of all that extra weight for nothing, if you think mine looks crap, then it may well be worth fitting it all:p Al.

Cheers Al. It looks in the picture like you've replaced the regular lip section and used its fixing points to mount the active lip.

I'm trying to retain both the lips a la' Geezablokes etc cars so cannot (I think) use the same mounts.

As you say I'm not going try to fit the whole assembly, but just trying to fix the lip so it looks like a standard 'down' spoiler.
