paul ashton
Had parking sensors fitted a few weeks ago and going to Halfrauds to get some paint cos they're black and i got a silver car.Just wondering if anyone else has sensors and sprayed them, worried the paint might affect them working properly. Animal
I put sensors on my red Supe - havent got round to painting them yet though. Looking at mine, they have a silicon band around them, presumably where the sensor bit actually is, so the outside edge is plastic, then the silicon, then the plastic centre. I reckon you should be able to spray them if you mask 'em off properly. You can buy a paint on liquid latex masking solution, my mate uses it for fancy airbrushing. You should be able to dab this stuff into the gap with a small brush, then peel it off after you've painted the plastic. rik
Just remember that aerosol paints contain a lot of thinners which can be very aggressive:twak: to some plastics.
Animal
Yeah, it might be better trying a model shop to see if there is a silver enamel close enough to the colour of your car.
NeoFuture
or you could always buy new sensers from a dealer who does a silver car IE bmw !
Seb
I've bought some I haven't had fitted yet, and the company who sold them to me suggest that prior to fitting you mount them in cardboard and give them a couple of coats of spray paint, so I reckon you sould be fine spraying them either way.
