paul ashton
When i'm Coming to a stop get down to approx 5mph i can hear a noticable clunking sound coming from front brake/s.Think it could either be loose pads or caliper.Any ideas and is this normal and nothing to worry about. SUPRALOOPY
check the pads, make sure the anti rattle springs are there, also get some copper grease and put it on the back of the pad sparingly. while your there check all things involved around your brakes just incase. AntD
I replaced my front discs and pads a few weeks ago and is still getting a clunking/knocking from the left side on braking, but not all the time.It is really annoying.

merckx
I use to get this clonking sound aswell , I replaced the front stabilizer bar links and now it's gone.
Irvy
I now have this - a definite clunk on stopping...did people resolve this by following mercks advice?
Scoboblio
I had this brake clunking noise on the rear, I had it looked at and was told it's the pads moving about slightly inside the calipers because I have no anti-squeel shims on the back - annoying but apparantly nothing to worry about. Then again I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a brake clunk and a stabiliser bar clunk
andrew7
Then again I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a brake clunk and a stabiliser bar clunk The difference is that if it is the stabiliser bar, you will get it when you aren't using the brakes, i.e. going over speed bumps, up steep kerbs, running over the neighbour's annoying kids, etc.... peter richards
try fitting a shim kit first , when i changed my set up to uk , it did exactly that . the pad is moving in the caliper ,
AntD
I've had a shim kit fitted and my front OS is still clunking:(

TonytotheB
Wow a thread from 06. Helped me though. Search FTW! I don't think I get the 'clunk' sound when going over bumps. Will check pads and calipers and follow advice from above Thanks mkivsupra.net :)
Lude
yea as above make sure that the 2 pins that hold the pads are in place, then there is a anti ratle clip that hooks onto the 2 pins. the anti ratle thing stops the clunk
TonytotheB
I fear that I also have the clunk over speed bumps now - is this the stabiliser bar or can it also be something else?
ManwithSupra
I fear that I also have the clunk over speed bumps now - is this the stabiliser bar or can it also be something else? More than likely drop links attaching to the stabiliser bar, otherwise it could be, Top mounts or Lower suspension arm bushes etc, or even something as simple as an exhaust mount making a nocking sound. Nic
Also check the sub frame bolts.
Sakey
I'm getting a clunking sound from what I think is the front driverside brake when braking, it happens once or twice when cold and then goes away. Could that be subframe bolts or something worse?? I'm not having much luck with brakes, failed MOT with them for cracked a bleed nipple, sticking, locking up etc. So will deffinatly be something to do with them
TonytotheB
Is this problem - the drops links - something that should STOP me driving the car? Although that said, I hardly drive it at the moment
