JohnK
Im having problems spliting the drive shaft to diff joint one side. The other side came apart relatively easily but the other is a right PITA. I've tried shocking it with a hammer ect but nothing doing, any tricks to this? TIA
D8MOA
turn in around half a turn and try again, theres a clip on the end and it might be jamming

Chris Wilson
Removing the stub shaft OUT of the diff, or removing the inner C/V joint to the stub shaft?
JohnK
Romving the whole joint from the diff, after removing the 6 caphead bolts. One side came away easiy. I think the clip you are refering to is a circlip that holds the shaft into the CV joint, I am not removing that part. I am thinking its just corroded and grown together. Chris Wilson
Either hit it harder (brutal) or put the prop and other driveshaft back on, and turn the engine in 1st gear, clutch up, handbrake on, coils disconnected, that will free the joint through torque action (gentle)
D8MOA
so if you look at the 1 you have removed, where the splines go into the diff there isnt a grove at the end with a clip on it?
JohnK
Thanks Chris, Hit it, it will have to be as the gearbox is off. D8moa, you are in the wrong place, im not spiliiting the CV joint, I'm removing it complete.
D8MOA
is that the bit you are tryin to remove from the diff?
JohnK
no, just past the inner rubber boot there are 6 caphead bolts, im splitting the joint there.
D8MOA
ahhh it sounded like you was removing it complete with the splines rather then undoing the bolts!!

JohnK
Trouble was I had the diff all unbolted so it was hard to hit it as the movment took all the energy out of the blow. Still all done now.
