Escort Cosworth - way too under powered for me!

Watch those crash repaired ones. If you get one from a trader for that price I would be VERY weary. I would definetly want to see documentation confirming auction grades.

It could be a grade 4.5 6 months ago and been warped up since being in the uk,I think its best to get it on a ramp and get it looked at properly....for that price I think it may need some tidying up cosmetically or mechanically, also take someone who knows there supes to have a butchers.

I agree with Steve - cossies dont have enough power for your pounds.Would rather spend my cash on a supe anyday

Tony, i don't think all the sub £10K cars should necessarily be avoided. There's sometimes wealthy supra owners selling unmodified cars at approx 'Parkers guide' type prices just to get rid of it. Also IMO there are some cars at 12-13K that are probably no better but just 'owe' the seller more.

Im with Scooter and far, just because its cheap doesnt mean its knackard. I think the best way is to take someone that knows the Supra and have a look, never know, you could pay 8K for something that most pay above 10K. But seriously it gets said so many times here, try both manual and auto first, 90% of people are usually very surprised by the auto.

Hello and welcome mate, don't listen to the lads who own the lesser J Spec models, there just jeleous cos they havn't got all the gadgets! UK Cars are alot rarer than the J Specs too, and in my opinion much better!!! Not that i have a UK Spec! lol :p

Also with a UK car you can get full toyota service history, which in my opinion is essential on a car like this....

Exhaust, filter, de-cat and boost controller will get you 450bhp in a UK spec! Quality mate. then 100 shot of NOS and your talking 550bhp

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Paul you want to stog smoking that stuff mate.....come one we all know the JDM's are as quick as the UK's, it was just changed on paper to please the markets. Why do the UK's have 550 injectors, they need more fuel to pull all that lard, we only need little injectors cause we got quicker turbos, they may break easier but hey it only be your windscreen all the little bits will be bouncing off. Cause, get a face lift and you get UK brakes, the only thing you have over me apart from all the lardy lard is the injectors, but hey why would you want 550, might as well go for 6's or 7's......

Exhaust, filter, de-cat and boost controller will get you 450bhp in a UK spec!

Never happen mate, your still to restricted with all your fancy EGR's and what not, trying to keep the planet green, something the sneaky jap lads arent worried about over there......:D ;)

Seriously Paul what power is your car making on the dyno? I didn't realise the baove mods get you 450 ponies, or is that at 1.5Bar;)

lmao @ 280 bhp - we know this has been proven incorrect both on dyno and the fact that in japan they said they would not produce any vehicle in exess of 280 bhp so thats what they wrote on the paperwork.

There is one thing which is good about the uk spec though - the cheaper insurance - this is down to 2 factors

1) Slower car = less dangerous.

2) Less desirable than j_spec = less stealable

550 injectors ? ok the principle behind this is as follows :

Hippo has bigger veins to pump blood into his fat buggered slow ass heart.UK car

Cheetah has thinner veins to pump blood into its highly tuned sporty heart.J_spec

:D

Both are awesome cars, fact. But if you want to split hairs...

EVERY uk spec car I have driven has had far more lag than a J-Spec. Donning flame proof overalls I would never, ever buy a UK spec for myself, IMO the Jap specs drive better, have more power, and FAR less lag. UK specs seem to vary enormously, in my experience a "good" UK spec is about as quick as an average J-Spoec. A strong stock J-Spec is invariably faster than any UK stock cars i have encountered. Gearing may have a lot to do with it, as well as the AFM and turbo sizing in the UK spec cars. Ignition mapping will have a large say too, the UK cars are more retarded than J-Specs, probably to allow for our *rap fuel.

come on catch up lads.......:sly:

Thats why we didnt need bigger brakes, we that Japs said are feck that we're not worried, we just want to go fast as possible. Anyway we should be telling you to catch up........if you decat you wouldnt even hit anywhere near 1.5 like my J-spec does, so you had better not come round my way wanting a race.

Right, so you'd keep your 440cc injectors on if you had 800bhp? No you'd have much bigger injectors on for that power, which is why the UK spec has 550 ones, more power!!! bigg injectors, bigger brakes, tougher turbo's!!! Quality

Just because you have bigger injectors doesnt mean you put out more power, yuo may be throwing more fuel in, but you too restricted and laggy on the other side.

So because you have a bigger knob, does that mean that you can do my GF better  :p ;)

This is all friendly banter, just incase anyone was confused.....

Nah, In fact Paul your a looser, get lost.....:D

Hey, i'm back in this....

UK Spec are definately better in standard trim, no point talking about mods here because thats not really subjective is it!

So you have smaller turbos, smaller injectors, smaller brakes, and I wouldn't think the weight difference is that much!
