IDO
Good luck with it Pete.. As you said it may be woth getting back into the Karate as it is alot more sociable.. (sorry my spelling is rubbish!).. and may last better in the long term! (probably cheaper too!) As i train in martial arts and boxing... used to be a gym "goer" as well (when fighting alot) but ended up bored with it.. so being a member of a club seems to keep it a bit more interesting.. I have had a couple of normal gym memberships that lasted couple of year stints each.. but have been keepinig fit with my boxing & thai boxing for over 10 years.. God only know what size i would be if i had only done the normal "gym thing" and nothing else, because i would have stopped completely.. Well it was a lecturer I had at Uni that does it, and his ex wife lives across the road so I was well in from square one. They're a nice bunch too. Only thing I didn't like was the pressure to advance. I was happy dordling along.
Guest Usmann A
Soz Bit late, but props too ya. I wouldnt advise jumping into a boxing gym, build up your fitness anaerobic ability then go to one. You will have a defined physiqe and will be working those fast twitch fibre muscles well.(show all these gym lifters a thing or two ) Who knows you might be the next saviour for it. Dude whatever you do. pls pls pls. work your triceps as im paying for it now, for over a year in injury. We gna see a british Arnie then .... lol

Dragonball
Having spent 6 years working in health clubs...believe me I've seen it all! Couple of tips from a serial trainer Make sure you do a combination of aerobic and weights...the musclebound look is transitory and quickly fades to flab (it also looks yeach in most of my girlfriends' opinions! Toned is best!) Use the trainers there for advice (actually SOME of them do know their stuff!) Go with a mate if poss - the drop out rate runs at an average of 45% - mainly through boredom A personal trainer session is worth x2 times going by yourself! Eat well - good protein not cheap carbs... Take it easy and build up (as you have wisely decided to do) - this machisimo crap can lead to a lot of Oesteo bills! Thanks Paul - good tips. Vicki is coming along too and I'm trying to convince my mate to join. We completely changed our eating habits several months ago and knocked out most fat. Salts been off for years due to Vicks high BP. NEVER have chips at home (rarely when eat out). Like that Paul Mckenna show - you just don't crave all that junk food once you've knocked it on the head. That was a pretty good show. Your muscle does get used up first, doesn't all fade straight to flab but it gets used up first... which is why you need to keep going the gym to stay in shape! Not saying you'll become a fat bastard but you won't keep the muscle without some form of working it. Not everyone's goal is to be big either, personally i'd hate to look like a "body builder", nothing wrong with being trim. Also, treadmills and other cardio machines are good for long term health, you'd be a fool not to use them as well.

Guest Usmann A
its always the big guys with big muscle mass that need more O2 to keep their muscles working. Doesnt mean thier more powerful I mean im 18 and 16 stone, al little flab ill admit, but motsly muscle, while ive got ntohing against the weight lifters, just that theier is no need to increace mass, if it cant work like a lightswitch and twitch. sos, but working in health clubs dont mean sh-iat. LOL ps, waiting to get flamed.

Got some times listed? times? jesus christ man i just said that for a 17stone weight lifter i can sprint pretty quickly! as in most of my really really fit football friends cant keep into me, FFS times!!?? what are you on
Kopite
Erm i asked you to define what you meant by "fast". Ok what do you mean by "sprint pretty quickly"? Just curious as to how a 17 stone mountain of muscle (as you say) can sprint "quickly", all depends what quickly means i suppose. I wasn't asking for a time slip by the way, just meant if you've done any 100 metres etc and how quick you can do it. p.s. Are you on your period or something?
