JohnA
...Sorry, John, but diesel spills REALLY hack me off. He he...I too ride a bike mate. It's not that sort of diesel spill. More like when parked overnight it leaves a small patch on the driveway. Maybe as it depressurises or something. When it runs it doesn't leak, I wouldn't be driving around like that FFS:Pling:
Soop Dogg
Sorry if I got the wrong end of the stick, John. Had this image of someone who doesn't give a to$$, driving around dumping fuel on the road!
JohnA
That's lorries and HGVs that you're thinking about, spilling out of their overfilled tanks in roundabouts and sharp turns (exactly when you need max traction on a bike) Not a pretty thought. AlanM
Had to put a new brake light bulb in the Cavvie SRi last MOT and it is only 15 years old, 250k+
JohnA
Cavvies are quite reliable if left alone and not forced to 'go faster' Just oil changes and the odd coolant and they go forever...

Jspec Germany
Light it on fire and push it off a cliff. J/k. Buy an old Honda civic for cheap. Cheap to buy, operate, and fix, plus easy to work on.

Dash Rendar
Unlucky. Rovers are great. My Rover Coupe has now done 110K miles, 60K of them mine. Aside from the cambelt change when I bought it, it's not had a single thing go wrong! Not even a bulb!

JohnA
I like the last generation of Skodas. (VW TDI engines) After 3-4 years prices are rock-bottom, build quality is decent and 55mpg as a bonus. Street cred is also nil, very handy for vandals and theives. What more can you ask from a runabout?

JohnA
how much are they to buy? Depends on mileage/location/condition a couple of years ago I drove a friend to go and test-drive one, I ended up liking it and haggling for him. It was £7K at the time, but that was 1.5year old car at the time. Nowadays they should be around the 3-4K mark I'd think. Aircon, the lot. It had surprisingly good midrange, the little POS. 100bhp, but felt faster than that on backroads.
