Been toying with the idea of getting a speed camera detector, heard of the New Road Angel Navigator as not only is it a speed camera detector but also a Sat Nav, although the guy in Halfords kept trying to get me to buy the TomTom as he said the Navigator was too slow for the sat nav. I do want also the facility for the mobile units as well as they seem to be appearing everywhere and you cant be too careful, although not sure if the TomTom does this. Opinions or advise would be greatly appreciated

I've had one of these for a while...(scroll right down the page for full spec)

No problems, gives all the camera alerts and you update once a month for the latest camera positions.

On thing to bear in mind about mobile cameras. Only a laser diffuser (technically illegal) or GPS based systems can protect you from them. Diffusers scramble the laser signal and GPS gives you advance warning of where they are likely to be.

None of the other laser "detectors" are worth a light as they only tell you after your speed has been regitered.

I recently upgraded to the road angel navigator from the previous model. It's quite a fiddle to find somewhere to locate the unit on the windscreen since it has a fold up ariel. Mines sort of in the middle of the windscreen, above the clock. It's a good unit, but does sometimes take a while to determine your position. Have'nt used the navigator bit of it yet, but will try later tonight on way down to cribbs. Think the tomtom is a bit smaller, so might be better on that side of things....
