The GT4 uses the larger Supra 4pot/2pot brakes, ie they are exactly the same as the UK spec Supra brakes.
ChrisSZ
Me!!! I have a set of discs on their way from Paul this week and the calipers are sat downstairs in my garage at the moment. The GT4 calipers are different in design from UK spec Supe calipers but are apparently a direct swap. I'll post up some pics when (if!!!) I get them on this week - I'm a little worried about spoke clearance

ChrisSZ
Nic, I don't for one moment suppose you have a measurement from the disc face to the back of the caliper to let me know how deep the calipers are? I'm still kinda worried that by spokes will foul the outer face of the caliper (not the top - I have 18"s.). If so, I'll be needing to sort out some spacers
super_supra
thanks for the replys the diffrent design doesnt bother me theres a set on ebay at the mo for £200 but there is no picture and it does not say what condition they are in. thanks again
ChrisSZ
Give TCB a ring first mate (01579 383879), you may well find them cheaper, garunteed and in better condition
tDR
iirc the GT-Four runs a 315mm disc on the front rather than 320mm
ChrisSZ
I'll find out on Tuesday if they fit OK or not!!
Dave S
from the pic looks like the Celica caliper is a 'leading' type setup where Supra is 'trailing'...dont know if it makes any difference...interested to know if this works
LeeT
so they fitted 4 pots on an import GT4 but not on a TT supe? very strange
Gazboy
Isn't each 'pot' from the GT4 48mm vs the Supra's 50mm? A frined of mine found it a real task and a half finding after market wheels that fitted over the GT4 brakes btw.

A frined of mine found it a real task and a half finding after market wheels that fitted over the GT4 brakes btw. That's partly because they run a strange PCD of 5x100. Same problems as with UK Supra brakes as far as caliper clearance goes.
Wez
so they fitted 4 pots on an import GT4 but not on a TT supe? very strange Some TT imports did have big brakes from stock, mine did for example.
ChrisSZ
i thought i could remember reading some where on here of some one fitting the gt4 brakes to the front of the j-spec supra i cand find it now so not sure if i dreamt it:rolleyes: does any body know if they do fit if so are they the same size as uk spec supra or are they just 4pots that are better then the j-spec 2pots? I'm sure I read somewhere that they do fit, however, I can now confirm that they DO NOT FIT!! The caliper itself won't fit onto the mounting points and they don't have a thread for the mounting bolts to screw into (J-secs are bolted through the carrier straight into the caliper). Looks like it's back to the drawing board or save up for a set of new UK brakes:(
Nic
Chris, give me a shout if you need prices for the larger brakes, I have the fronts in stock at the moment.
ChrisSZ
Cheers Nic, I'm gonna but the idea on the back burner for now - give me a chance to save up
