Oil change

Recommended Posts

i am thinking of draining the oil on my 'off the road' supra, and refilling it in a week or so, with a new filter relocation kit.

the reason is, i want to remove some guages asap, and fit new ones, and i cant afford a new relocation kit this week

daft question is, will the engine be 'ok' without any oil in it for a week or so

Rob,

which relocation kit are you going for?

I've been looking for a few weeks. I'm not sure I can justify the cost of a cooler as I do a lot of short journeys and I believe the cooler may actually be detrimental so would need to add a 'stat too. The obvious solution would therefore be the Greddy one, as it's reasonably priced, but having read Nic's horror story I'm worried. I don't like the idea of Paul E's as the hoses don't look to have decent connectors.

Cheers

Mike

im not sure... i have a Greddy oil relocation unit on now, with the oil cooler, but its a 13 Row monster, and wont fit.....its also a bit worn, and is leaking from 'somewhere' what i mean by that is that i know its leaking, but its inside the wing/bumper and i cant see properly

a few options therefore...

new relocation kit only

new oil cooler only (will i need a cooler when im single turbod?)

new relocation and cooler kit

i need the defi oil temp and pressure guages to be fitted in, as a set of greddy guages are at the moment (to be removed)

Hi Mike

The problem I had was with the sprung, snap in connectors (similar type of connector you get on a garden hose, but in metal), not all of the GReddy oil coolers and oil relocation kits use these, most use properly threaded connectors.

I can supply HKS, Blitz and GReddy Oil Cooler and Oil Filter Relocation Kits with threaded oil line connectors, if you want prices and more details, email me at the address in my sig below.

ps. for those who weren't around all those years ago, [thread=7550]THIS THREAD[/thread] explains the horror story Mike is refering to :faint:
