Alex
A friend of mine using Forte Lubricants' Power steering treatment in my P/steering fluid as its been whining since I bought it (more so after replaceing the fanbelt, but the replacement was from Toyota and fitted perfectly) Has anyone else used it? FaithStalker
Mine also does that Alex, i havnt changed a thing since I got it - but I insisted on a cambelt change. Its especially noisy at low speeds, at also seems be worse in colder conditions !
Alex
It will be louder at low speed as there is more load on the steering at low speeds

It'll be the pump, they do seem to be a bit iffy, the Soarer uses a similar pump and also suffers noise when they wear. Additives don't really help. They are usually a seal softener for when the rack seals have hardened and started to leak (not necessarily onto the floor, they can leak internally), I doubt an additive will quiten it. Alex
So are you saying I need to replace the pump? Is there a better, beefier, unit I could try??? My car has covered 90,000 miles so I'll allow it this mechanical failure!!!

No other pump will fit without major tinkering, just get a standard one, same on UK and J-Spec cars AFAIK, so you might get a good used one cheap.
