Heat Shrinking And Splicing Into A Wire

Ok i wanna splice a wire into the middle of another, but how can i put heat shrink over it if i can get it over both?? Can i cut it, hook it over and then heat shrink?? Any tips??

I was kinda hoping i could avoid tape, but i guess if i must then i must

you could cut wire B so you can slide the heat shrink on,but that would make it hard work for you!

Cut B, lay A & B together and solder, slide heat shrink over and well back, solder B in line to the ends of the connected A&B, slide HS over and heat. Job done

If you don't want to cut the wire in half, then use some self amalgamating tape.

 

It's much better than insulation tape.

What's self amalgamating tape??

A very useful derivative of insulating tape which can be used for waterproofing connections. To use, the top protective layer is peeled off and the rubbery self- amalgamating tape underneath is wrapped tightly around the connection to be waterproofed. Eventually, the layers of this tape will merge together and create a waterproof seal. This tape is highly recommended for automotive work and also aerial installations, particularly those for satellite TV where cables enter the LNB and polariser.
