Ducks as pets?

Vickis parents always did. Any type of duck will do AFAIK. They rescued them from a farm.

They need some fresh water to play in (an old bath) and room to run around. Something to live in and protect them from foxes at night is obviously advisable.

Chris Wilson is the bird man of Shropshire - he'll tell you.

When my mum was a little girl at home she used to have a duck that lived in doors and it would attack the postman thinking she was a dog.....

She now lives on a farm and had a baby goose, it grew up and then one day out of now where, 20 other gease turned up, flew down and landed, they all spent about 20mins minglying and getting to know each other, then as quickly as they landed they took off, with my mums goose. Very strange how other adults come to collect it when it was ready, how'd they know ??

She now has chickens, as the stupid feckers cant fly.........just make sure you get a bird house to keep them in at night otherwise a fox will have them, just be prepared for a nightly ritual of having to put the chooks to bed ;)

If you can, go for UK Ducks, the imported ones are not worth the aggro...:D

Didn't Joey have a pet duck?

Yeah I have heard that on the Import ducks their feet are smaller so they tend to be slower then the UK ducks with bigger feet. But the wings are made of different materials, the Imports wings are loads lighter then the lardy UK ducks :p

So I think they end up at about the same......... ;)

The house round the back of ours has ducks. It's very qute when you hear the sudden Quack Quack they come out with. Always puts a smile on my face :)

But they do let them go wandering all round the place and they've ended up in our garden on several occasions. I can see the dogs licking their lips when they are outside.
