Bob
Well, the novelty wore off fairly quickly (about 20 minutes actually). But the most deciding factor was the lag I encountered at kickdown today when giving it some beans off the slip road So the bloody thing is sat all lonely-like in my garage, with the freshly cleaned stock BOV nestled in place. Peace perfect peace! I may keep hold of it for plans to go single in the (distant) future, but I think even then I'd want to go recirc. uk-rich
it shouldn't give you any more lag than any other bov
Chase
ordered
supragold
Maybe you didn't have it set up right. They shouldn't give any more lag and do need adjusting.
Ouch got me
had mine put in friday, works great and sounds fantastic

Though tbh, I'm glad to have got rid of the noise too. It's all fine and dandy when you're giving it some, but the dump valve going off at 20-30mph really is kind of embarassing! mikeyb10supra
it shouldn't give you any more lag than any other bov it should'nt give any lag at all?? are the pipes all secured tightly and the spring rate set correctly??
Bob
All pipes are / were definitely secured. Not sure baout the spring rate; I bought it 2nd hand and just bolted it straight on without thinking about it. I just put the lag down to it being at atmospheric BOV rather than a recirc
JohnA
I am a fan of Dump Valves as much as the next man (or woman) OK, maybe not. But you shouldn't have any 'lag' or adverse operation on a JSpec. As said, probably the spring rate was wrongly set.
Ark
So are there instructions on setting up the correct spring rate? What would the correct rate be, anyway?

I just put the lag down to it being at atmospheric BOV rather than a recirc if its second hand the spring rate has been altered, its prop leaking boost (opening) as you start getting on positive boost which is why you are getting a lag

Nic
As said already a BOV on a J-spec should have no effect on lag/boost what so ever. I have a couple of brand new HKS SSQV blow off valves on special offer at the moment if anyone is wanting one, see details in Import Pimp section [thread=64952]HERE[/thread]
JohnA
As Nic said. If it *does* affect lag or driveability then it's poorly fitted or set up.
pistonbroke
How do you set one of these up then? I've been told not to mess with them out of the box as they should be set up, but whats the proper procedure, just for info purposes.
