DamanC
well with joy of lots of spare time i thought it was time to start on crossing my list of things to do to the supe. One of those things was to sort out my nasty yellowing J spec headlights. Well, i bought myself a set of UK spec lights off a member here. The chrome inset had everso slightly flaked away on one of them, tbh it wasnt really noticeable but that was why the seller was selling them Anyways they have been sitting round my place for months and with my house mate threatening to pack his job in i had thought i had better get this done (he works in an accedent repair place as a panel beater and knows painters ). I trashed the uk lights, and got the chrome insert sprayed the same colour as the car (silver) and then put them all back together with new sealant, with results as follows. Before i began (note the passenger side had been refurbed 6 months ago) http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/1616/imgp09339wp.jpg The freshly painted/put back together lights http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/580/imgp09370zo.jpg One on for comparison http://img127.imageshack.us/img127/5779/imgp09392wc.jpg The end result http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/7152/imgp09400kq.jpg Ta-darr http://img421.imageshack.us/img421/6629/imgp09431wh.jpg Excuse the dreadful pics but it was a bit of a last minuite thing to install them today. Really didnt know what to expect as i dont believe anyone has done this on a silver, especially with uk lights and if they have i damn well couldnt find a pic. Initially i was going to have them sprayed all silver and not like it, send them back in the get them painted matt black and leave the rings the same colour as the car. However im pleased with how they look all silver, your comments please?

Ian W
VERY nice indeed mate. Silver is a colour where that would work though and doubt mine would look as good in red (or pink...whatever!).

carl0s
Awesome. How did you get such good contact on the sealant? Mine looks shite where the rubber/sealant is.

DamanC
Cheers for your kind comments chaps makes it seem worth it! So is that a leave them silver then? Carl0s - a combination of a hell of alot of time and effort where i took about half of the existing sealent out and put in new stuff (nissan rear light sealant). I wasnt planning on doing this but one had been previously taken apart and sealed with a clear sealant making it look like there were air bubbles there. Where there rubber sits i effectively painted round the outside with a windscreen bonder and it doubles up nicely as it sticks the rubber on. absolute PITA but it seems it has payed off
cookci
looks nice did mine too took about a day but leaked lol my advice to anyone doing them is to really spend the time with the sealant and perhaps cover up one of the vents on the back and blow down the other (when all dry of course) to see if there are any leaks
