Tom
I have my mot next saturday and I failed last time because of the tread on my tyres, I didnt replace the tyres at the time as I didnt like the wheels much and I preffered to buy new wheels and tyres, the car was off the road during winter as I was in and out of work and couldnt afford a new combo, anyway the mot is next week and I just want it to get though the mot so would I still pass with cheapo tyres with incorrect widths? currently they look like the euro/drift style streatched across the wheel, I will be changing the wheels for newer ones that day or the next so could I get away with remoulds just for the mot? I need the car on the road to get the new wheels btw.
Ian W
as long as they're legal then that's all the MOT tester will be looking for i think mate.
Tom
Ok, that's all I needed to hear
andrew7
I think you'll find they have to be the correct speed rating for the car though, even if they are remoulds (if that is what you meant by legal SM?)...
JODY T
Why not collect the new wheels in another car, fit em yourelf then MOT it? no problem then...
Ian W
i didn't think they checked the speed rating Andrew7, just the tread depth and check for any defects in the tyre wall etc.
andrew7
You're right SM. Only relevant on class VII vehicles. I suppose as far as the MOT is concerned, as long as the tyre is good for 70 mph (doh)....
