aside from the clutch my t88 is no arsehole of a car to drive i get great traction and dont belive the hype about lag.have you ever been in a properley set up t88?

Sorry Jamie i just read your thread about you smashing into the jack in the garage and putting a hole in the front bumper that must have been a pleasurable drive, if you do some research you will see the T88 is an old truck turbo with agricultural delivery, i on the other hand didnt buy my supe ready done i spec'ed it myself and stuck to a T61 the car is making boost at 2800 rpm not 4800 rpm, by the way have you ever been in properly set up T61

Jamie

have you ever been in properly set up T61

(I know you weren't talking to me but...) I've driven a NOT properly setup T67 with 650s and an eManage Blue. It was horrible. It put me off going single for a long time. It's still the only single Supra I've been in but I'm sure a properly setup one is much better.

what about neither of them?

middle ground is what im looking at. GT series turbos or Sound Performance turbos (note not the kits) specced up to components selected to compliment them

now your getting somewhere Rob, sorry to get a bit irrate it just gets my goat a bit when people post up these plucked from the air power figures, the important thing is for you to be sure what you want the car to do whether it be track/road/drag or a bit of all then do the research speak to people like the Vortex boys, Kean at Boostlogic, and people running real cars, i was in the fortunate position to get good advise from Dude (bless him) before his "problems" these people will be more than happy to talk to you and know there shit

get your self into a nice tuned single and you will then see why people prefer the single setup. you really need to drive one that has been setup correctly before making your mind up, ill take you out in mine if you are anywhere near middlesbrough, bring clean underpants aswell please

yeah - its certainly not a figure i plucked for the sake of being able to say '700bhp innit' down my local maccy d's :)

the title of the thread was to illicit some kind of response and get an idea of upgrades i will need. im concerned as to what bits ill need to replace/upgrade, but a quick squint at your garage has thrown up another unknown....head porting - i hadnt thought of that.

i am hoping to spend the summer in Ros car (like, all of the summer :)), maybe a trip out in jamieps, and certainly in Waynes, posssibly in eyefis car

get an idea of where i need to draw a line.

as for usage, its my weekend toy, so its going to be back lanes, drag strips, the odd track

FWIW, IMHO, I've driven many, many Supra's. Everything from stock to T88's. Manuals, auto's, with high stalls, and without. Pretty much every combination.

Now, I know I'm not going to win any friends with the hybrid comunity, but I still believe they're a waste of time if you're after a good power increase. I've never driven a Supra with Hybrids that has impressed me. Neither have I driven a Supra with any form of single that is 'only just' quicker than hybrids.

Forget power figures. Especially big ones. I've got a T67 on my car. It's set up to run 1.5 bar on road fuel, and in terms of power figures, it's probably around 550 bhp. (if you want big numbers, stick the car on a high reading dyno, and do a guestimation of flywheel HP using the highest loss percentage you can think of ;) )

Traction IS an issue. First and second gear cannot make use of full throttle. Third gear will, but only if the conditions are good. If conditions are bad, (and I'm only talking about cold weather, not wet), then even fourth gear can easily lose traction.

If you really want 700 bhp, go for it. But trust me, it won't be much fun on the road, and you'll either end up with a turbo with nasty lag, or running a smaller turbo at it's ragged edge.

If anyone ever want's a demo of a puny 500 hp car, feel free to pop over to Maidstone. :)
