Ron Kiddell, 3 times British Drag Racing Association Champion may beg to differ with a few of your 'facts'. You are insinuating that just because Ron makes a living from building and tuning R32's he should be faster than a 'plumber' - this is ridiculous and quite frankly laughable. I'm also confused as to why you think the RK Tuning Skyline is a drag car? You have obviously never witnessed Ron Kiddell drive his R32 around a circuit. I can assure you it goes around corners very quickly too. Yes he drives it to every event, yes he can do a 9.46sec standing 1/4mile, but it's certainly not a one trick pony... http://www.rktuning.com/video/time_attack.wmv I'm sure Ron would love to beat Keith in a head to head (as it's a worthy scalp to take), but at the same time, he can also give a lot of people a good kicking around a handling circuit - that’s the big difference between the two R32's. So for a Sprint Car, the 9.4sec of RK Tuning's R32 is not exactly 'playing catch up' to a 9.3sec drag car is it? Ok, he may not get into the 8's in the immediate future, but I think that's pretty respectable. It's nice to see people pushing the scene forward. Erm... Rocket Ronnie's R33, that was quite nippy and a former TOTB Champ. Another car that was quick in a straight line, but was built as an all-round sprint car. Sorry for the rant, no offence meant. I'd rather be sat in a Supra anyway. I'll get my coat. Just two questions....... Does Keith have to use Nitrous to get decent times ? The UK is one of only a few countries that allows its use in some competetive drag racing.....says a lot. Hence the "rather inconsistent" times of other cars of late. Pardon my comment about Rons achievements by the way....i was commenting in regards to his GTR as that was the car in discussion on this thread....not his or anyone elses achievements. 2) When was a 10+ second 1/4 mile car (Rocket Rons) thats continually year after year stuck in the 10's been quick ? Its strange how the car retired from TOTB when a faster GTR came on the go. FYI ....Ron ran a 10.09 @ 150 in TOTB Arabia....He did a 9 sec and WITH NITROUS. Keith did faster that about 3 years ago on his first engine, without NOS, and being heavier than he is now Andy Barnes did it less than 2 years ago. I have no doubts it goes round corners fast....credit to him....but thats not the point of this discussion or marks little rant at Keith. And i "class" Rons car as a drag car as 85% of the time its on the drag strip. The calder supra went on the handling course at TOTB....but thats still seen as a drag car. If the RK car has it in it, i am sure it will prove itself not to be a one trick "pony"......but will it. Who knows. You posted a link to a handling course. Why ? Yes Ron is an excellent handling course driver. Your point is ? At the end of the day, all cars technically being well, i can guarantee on the day no car will come close to Keiths GTR on the 1/4 mile at TOTB 5, and thats some going for a SCOTTISH PLUMBER lol Either way this is getting boring now anyways, and could go on forever. So maybe let the cars do the talking this year and let that be it eh. Hope this is taken in the context its meant though. Fact is some people HAVE bragging rights.....some dont. Get over it Mark. RK's car is an all round performer. It competes in all events Drag & Circuit. So yes it probably will never be as quick in the 1/4 mile as Keith's, but Keith's car can't go round corners very quickly!!!
