johnd-mkiv
I have got hold of a couple of front mounts one is a complete kit the other needs the pipe work making up, im sure I read some where that ally pipe work is best used for these kits and stainless is not recommended if so why is that? Gamer
Weight and ability to dissipate heat would be the things that come to my mind...
johnd-mkiv
Guess its 50/50 with the heat side of things as ally will conduct the heat alot quicker than stainless. the only reason im asking is I can get hold of the bends in stainless to make up the full kit where as the ally kits will be alot more expensive
Chris Wilson
Just weight really, either is fine from a function point of view. Mix and match if you like and it's easier.
merckx
Stainless won't disipate heat knowhere near aswell as aluminium. Aluminium has a thermal condictivity of approx 15 times that of stainless steel. Also manufacturing costs would be much higher.
Chris Wilson
The heat dissipation via the connecting tubes in an I/C system is absolutely trivial, as the wall contact area is so low and the gas speed so high. It matters not what they are made of, or whether they are lagged or not.
