Nic
I was having a look at a highly modified, supercharged NSX today, it was a road going JGTC replica, in bright orange, based on the Autobacs car. Really did look stunning especially from the back with the carbon fibre GT wing and rear diffuser. Top Secret are now doing a CF rear diffuser for the Supra, I was just wondering if this would have any functional benefit? Not my cup of tea for a road car, but could look good on a modified, kitted Supra.

Thorin
I like it Do they just bolt up to the stock bumper then? I'd just be worried about how flimsy they may be.

paul mac
can anyone explain the theory behind a diffuser and whats it doing, the obvious one is downforce, anyone care to elaborate ?
Angarak
Doesnt the diffuser speed up the air exiting the underside of the car which 'sucks' the rear of the car to the road...giving it more downforce. Though I think it only really benefits you if the underside of the car is pretty flat (for smoother air flow). Im sure I heard Tiff Needle say something like that on 5th gear, or was it clarkson on Top Gear when he tested the red Audi S4?
RobSheffield
why do modellista and top secret insist of photographing black carbon diffusers in the shadows? put a damn light on them ffs...

Im sure I heard Tiff Needle say something like that on 5th gear, or was it clarkson on Top Gear when he tested the red Audi S4? Correct. Rear deffusers, if designed correctly, are there to to clean up turbulant air exisiting from the back of the car and promote faster flow. The faster the flow under a car the lower the air pressure will be and therefore aide downforce. Great concept, not sure how efficient it would be on a supra from anything other than cosmetics. Ideal world would have the supra with a flat bottom in combination with this as generaly having a 4" exhaust hanging under there isn't the best for flow. I'm sure it does work to an extent just not as efficiently as it could do if combined with flat panage.

He also thought an Esprit would do 200mph in under 10,000 feet- a standard Esprit V8 manages 165mph in the same distance btw.
Miguel
Depends how fast , how heavy the rain and how efficient it is at it's job, BUT a simple answer yes. You only have to watch a series like F1 or GT that uses this technology to the max when racing in the rain. Usualy all you see the break light.
