RedM
Jspec auto TT. Does the following seem okay? I have found that, when doing motorway speeds on private testing grounds, if I floor the acc. the auto box drops to 3rd and stays in 3rd all the way round to 6000rpm (ish) and then changes to 4th. I can make it change to 4th early by backing off slightly too. Should it be staying in 3rd for so long?
Ian R
The box will shift to your driving style if you are doing short bursts of booting it will hold gear longer. If you reset ECU and take it easy will find that the box shifts earlier (well mine does anyway)
RedM
It's been the same both sides of an ECU reset.
steve single
On my old auto if you floored it in third it will go nearly to the red line then change into fourth and go to the red line again. If you back off at the top of third it will change into fourth for you....
Ian C
Well, you want it in 3rd if you are booting it surely?! You don't want it granny shifting when 'making progress', and backing off should make it change up. -Ian
Ian R
Yeah foot to the floor it will change up at 130 ish
michael
Sounds perfectly normal to me sir. When going fast you want to exploit the full potential of that wonderful torque curve, no point wasting half of it with a shift into the economy gear

RedM
Yeah foot to the floor it will change up at 130 ish I can't have been going that fast. Surely not. Well, you want it in 3rd if you are booting it surely?! You don't want it granny shifting when 'making progress', and backing off should make it change up. well, yeah, I guess.... Just didn't want to stress the box if something was up. 'Making progress' is huge fun. On my old auto if you floored it in third it will go nearly to the red line then change into fourth and go to the red line again. If you back off at the top of third it will change into fourth for you.... Time to stop worrying then. Cheers guys.

I'm going to get kicked out of here for that, aren't I?
