edd_t
My girlfriend wants an FTO. She says they look like a baby Supra. At the moment she drives a mk4 Golf 1.8 GTi Turbo. Whats the FTO like, am i right in saying they are 200bhp FWD?
Ian W
i believe only the top of the range V6's are worth having and even then....why not just get an n/a Supe? to be honest i'd view it as a step down from the Golf lol loving the new avatar mate btw
edd_t
lol cheers. my hovis proves i really do look like that! thats what i was thinking, her golf has some seriously good gadgets and brilliant build quality, its only 3 years old. she doesnt like the size of the supe and wants something a bit more girly apparently. Rayman
Suggest a toyota celica to her, the older shape one about the same age as a supra, they are definately a baby supra only the headlights give them away, apart from the size of them the shape of the body is very similar. I always double take when i see them driving around.
edd_t
good idea. the Celica GT4 looks wicked
terribleturner
Sabrina (How_supra) owns a GPX FTO. It's having problems at the moment but i drove it home last night and was loving it (when it wasn't acting up ) Her Garage Not a bad little car but as they're in the same insurance bracket as an NA Supra i know which i'd go for. Ian W
sorry, just think they're ugly imo of course. would defo prefer a Celica/MR2 to one of these.
SupraJames
My friend has the V6 Mivec FTO, aftermarket twin exhausts, and it sounds awesome when you pulls away, really purrs..!! I just found the interior a little plasticy for my taste. But still a great car.
edd_t
yeh i prefer the look of the Celica, but i dont mind the FTO at all. it'll be another car to play with
rob wild
I like the FTO's would have to be a V6 mivec. I really like the Tip gearbox, here’s a picture of me driving my mates at Oulton park a couple of years ago. Must say it handled very well against must faster stuff as you can see in the background! Guest FTOFLYER
sorry, just think they're ugly imo of course. would defo prefer a Celica/MR2 to one of these. you think my car's ugly... mine being the one black cat put up there... the main problem with the fto is the insurance cost they get grouped with sports cars and they ain't but they're nicer than a celica... GT4 excepted and I do love the Mr2 tubby but our lass doesn't like the headlights so that's out... Quote: shes got her heart set on one now. have been looking in autotrader, they go from about £1500 to £10000. so am guessing she will get quite a nice one for about £7-8000 You're nuts if he's gonna spend that much on one 6K tops unfortunately... and if you're after a later one make sure it's got the new front end, many older ones are classed as 2000 2001 and it's a mistake... remember to check the seatbelt tags for the age..., buy one off the owners club they are usually pretty well looked after... , the GT4 celica is the only celica worth bothering with as the fto will beat most other celicas (but I will admit there's many more modding parts for the celica) and the fto sounds nicer... best thing would be to get her to drive one and see what she thinks, most people fall in love with the smooth V6... and it's about as fast as a NA supra anyway!! hahahahaha:eyebrows:

Ian W
didn't mean to offend mate, just my opinion.....same as folk think my Supe is pink lol must admit though when i was talking about the MR2/Celica i was talking ONLY of the turbo versions. other than that, i'd agree with you that the FTO would be the better all-round option. you think my car's ugly... mine being the one black cat put up there... the main problem with the fto is the insurance cost they get grouped with sports cars and they ain't but they're nicer than a celica... Guest FTOFLYER
no offence taken mate... I get a lot of abuse from subaru owners for my weapon of choice it's as simple as this.. I drive my car everyday and it costs me a fair wedge of cash... it's been hammered for the last 3 and half years and never let me down touch wood (except the paint... that's crap!!) and if I was runnin a fast car everyday I'd have been bankrupt a long time ago!!!
