TreesSZ
Inner city london! that area is the stuff of legend. Honestly I'm surprised your supe maintains wheeled status each day if parked outside. If I'm being honest I moved over to the private sector in september and thankfully things are nothing like the above rant (apart from the school owning your soul and the illness on holidays). The kids are alot better because they can boot out any troublemakers without many problems. and Im an art teacher so marking isnt all that bad. BUT you guys in state have it hard! Used to work near in a comp' near Reading. Man was that a struggle. It was like the whole time.
Thorin
This drives me mad. They absolutely should be working til 65 the same as everybody else has to! Then they complain about pay (same with the bloody fire service strikes the other year), they knew how much it paid when they took the job and if they don't like it, fine, piss off and get another job or shut up whining. I hope they keep striking and get sacked.

(I did that exactly) but it doesnt exactly promote jobs that are woefully understaffed anyway. Hence teaching assistants having to run classes instead of fully qualified staff. Charlotte
You spend the majority of the day fire fighting behavioral problems from the kids because excluding them can't happen easily due to government inclusion policy. You spend the evening marking the work they do. You spend the generous holiday time being ill because the adrenaline wears off and the multitude of school viruses cane you. Every poxy fibre of you is commited to the job and then they expect you to finish another 5 years later??? (by the time I retire it'll have gone up to 85 no doubt!). Dont even get me started on the pay (teachers dont get paid overtime). I understand what you are saying but do you not think it is exactly the same for everyone in a professional job. Ok i deal with adults and not kids but my bosses have serious behavioural problems and i have to live with it. I don't get paid overtime and i don't know anyone that does (unless you come in on a special occasion ie a sunday). Everytime i have a holiday i am ill because i work hard so when i wind down i get sick, and i only have a maximum of two weeks (out of my 20 days) to recover not 6 weeks. I know some people in my profession that don't get paid a lot more than say a head of year teacher and yet we still have to work till 65, if it can change for you then it has to change for all workforce imo.
