Markie
Hi all, I have the MOT coming this weekend. I will need to fit the CAT on before then obviously. Just wondering if its normal practice to reset ECU once CAT is on, and then also when CAT is removed after the test the ECU is reset again. Anyone think this is the best way to go about it, or just leave the ECU untouched and just fit CAT then remove when done?
Class One
I can't see it doing any harm in resetting your ECU. Makes sure you give your car a good long run with the cat in before the mot.
SimonB
You don't need to reset, it won't make any difference. The best way to go about it is find a sympathetic MOT place, put the cat in the boot and tell them they can refit it, test the car and then put it back if necessary. That way they can fudge the test, but it covers them if anyone official was to challenge how it passed. Of course if you don't have a friendly MOT place... chilli
That's what I plan to do, i.e. tell the local friendly garage to do what is required for the MOT and here is £ for the trouble lol
