Chiefgroover
I got an e mail from sky offering HD for an extra £10 per month. Thats OK, but £299 for the box? huh? not being a big telly watcher, I'm not running to get it lol.
terribleturner
Jesus, that's alot, and isn't not till 2012 now when everything goes HD now??
MR.B
There's HD channels available now although not very many. 2012 is when the analogue signal is turned off I think.

jazz1
my mate has a dodgy cable box where he watches like 1000 channels for free:search:
toyotasuprauk
Wow so it’s finally out then! £300 for the box is less than it was going to be at one point. I don’t have a HD TV still too early for them IMO. But if I did I wouldn’t pay £300 for the box then £10 a month for about 8 extra channels just not worth it again IMO. Mike
Xbox 360 do da dum do Yeah, MS are supporting HD-DVD on the 360 via an external drive.... snazzy..
Snooze
Note, however, that the X-Box 360 HD is a slight misnomer. It's only 1080i, upscaled from native 720p. The PS3 IS going to be native 1080p, however, I understand. That said, I can't personally afford a 1080p TV (actually - can't even afford a 360 yet!), so it makes not much odds to me.... .... Chiefgroover
I aint paying that for a handful of channels. Cant see too many people rushing to get this.
mawby
I must admit when I first read the original blurb from ages ago it read like you would pay £10 extra for a few channels. At the time I thought that was a bit pricey but wanting to test out my hd telly left it as an open decision in my mind. Then, liek you, I got that e-mail saying I'd have to buy the bloddy box at £300!!!!! And then an extra £10 a month AS WELL!!!!! E-mail open..... read..... deleted. SimonB
So for £300 I can get HD, but loose my Sky+.. I don't think so.. not yet anyway. It's got Sky+ functionality built in I think. That's why it's £300.

Chiefgroover
Seems that BBC are doing the world cup in 720P (rather than 1080i as a progressive signal refreshers 50 times a second, hence better for fast movements) and new channels are to be added regular. Also the big sales point for me is the component ouput, which is to be deleted from the second gereration box, due 6 to 9 months later. My screen doesn't have hdmi etc. So, I concede, sky HD it is, but reluctantly !
Jake
The PS3 IS going to be native 1080p I was just reading about this. It seems like the PS3 can only output HD video and audio to a HDMI ver1.3 enabled TV though! Fat lot of good that is to most of us.
