Guest DuncanG
k, where to start... Due to circumstances beyond my control (!) my wing mirror has been forcefully snapped clean off my Supe last weekend by some stupid arse in a car park. I just returned to find the thing lying on the ground, sheered off from the rest of it :( [violins] Anyway I'm really, really worried now because my Supe has the J-Spec, facelift electric folding mirrors and therefore I'm thinking that getting it repaired in this country is going to take a lot of effort and/or a lot of £££££. This has been keeping me up for the last two nights! [/violins] I still have the mirror unit itself (still in pretty good nick apart from a couple of scratches), but the hinge between it and the mounting on the door definitely has some broken components. I'm just entering a plea to the community that if anyone has any ideas who might be able to refit the mirror to my car that they could let me know? It would be very much appreciated! Thank-you, Duncan. PS. I understand that this site has a registration fee – if someone could post info on how I can go about paying, I’ll be right on it. Thanks. **** Edit: I've now payed up! Found a link to the registration information by search. ****
Terminator
I have a spare internal set (OS) with working motors but I suspect it has the same damage as yours.
Guest Terry S
Duncan have you tried the breakers. Celica Breaker in Cornwall may have one, their details are on here somewhere. If not, one of the suppliers that regularly bring stuff in from Japan, Envy, Miami Rice, Whifbitz can probably source you a new one. Best of luck
paulrenn
I've still got a spare set of perfect non-folding mirrors if anyone needs. Well, they fold, but only by hand! They're painted green tho
albundy68
i got a spare foldy motor mirror for drivers side, if your car isnt gunmetal grey it'll need a sprey, or maybe you could just use the internals, pm me an offer if you want it. Guest DuncanG
Whoa! Thanks very much for all your replies! Just talked with my local Toyota dealer and ordered a new mirror for £194.90 inc vat... But... I haven't payed them as yet so albundy68 - a few questions! - My car is gunmetal grey! - Do you have both sides of the hinge? ie. The mirror unit and the hub which bolts to the door - and more importantly, are they still connected? - I'm guessing it's defo the facelift mirror seeing as it's electronically folding? - What's the condition like? - How does the mirror connect to the car electronically? Do you still have the multiplug, etc... attached? Many thanks.
Thorin
My car isn't a facelift but it has foldy mirrors. I believe it was an option.
Terminator
Yep like everything on JDM cars it was an option, I have eletronic folding mirrors on my 95 car.
Suprash
Sorry has anyone else got one spare for ickle old me, or the internals of one, my passenger side motor packed up...
albundy68
the mirror is still attached to the door, i bought it coz i thought i needed a new one but it turns out mine was ok, i havent had a good look inside the door at how its fixed in etc, but i assume its all working, there certainly dosent look to be anything wrong, i was under the impression that all j spec mirrors were foldy in though, and all UK were heated, i'd best double check it is a motor'd foldy one though, because ive never had it on my car, does that mean that theres supes out there with mirrors that dont have a motorised fold or a heater in them??? - boring!!! Guest DuncanG
You have pm afaik, if you have electronic folding mirrors, they aren't heated.

Guest DuncanG
> Welcome to the board BTW mate Thank-you! > Heres some pics of the Supra gumball rotfl! This is another account I had to create to post about my mirror as I've used up all the posts under the account user name "Duncan". I've since dispatched the £10 off to the powers that be and am currently waiting for registration of the other username. Until then, I'll post with this one. I've been on and off this board for about 7 months now, really enjoying supra ownership - but not having enough money to A) afford fuel to come to meets and B) to afford any modifications. As a result, as soon as the mirror is sorted the car will be up for sale on this board But until then I have a few piccies! The front The back The mintness! Spec: 1998 VVT-i J-Spec RZ-S with Tein Coilovers As you can see, she's damn mint. Bought her with 13k on the clock and she's now up to 23k. Will be a sad day when she's gone
