thought i'd start fitting my new dials.

the instructions talk about sticking the coloured backing to the perspex plate.

am i missing these from the kit?

the instructions say to peel off the old face from the perspex plate, but the original face is painted on

any ideas?

you get rid of the old dials, and then stick the new ones on where you removed the old ones, then the plate sits on top of that, you need to reuse the needle stop as these dont come with any, so be carful when removing them from the origanal dials, bit of glue after should do the trick.

i did think that, but there doesn't seem to be enough perspex to support the sticky coloured background.

did you mark the location of all the dials when the ignition was turned on ?? , if not then yor dials will be way out ... iam in the same boat !!!.

yes i did :)

When I did mine I can't remember if I completely removed the old faces or peeled them off. I also had the 'forethought' to take a few photos of the temp/fuel needles, pulled the speedo/rev counter needles over the stops and photo'd where they came to rest at. Seems to have done the job since the speedo now reads about 3mph under at 30 and is absolutely spot-on at 80mph

I did the same mistake with the needles. I put the basic stuff back in the car with needles slightly pushed on and then drove behind the misses and checked speed that way.

RPM's I knew what is was at idle, turbo used defi to sync it with and I knew how much fuel ithad left. Also let her warm up fully and there adjusted the temp needle to sit halfway.

All seems fine with her now..

I have not finsihed totally yet thou.. Need to clean the alu dials a bit because of my grubby fingers :(

cheers guys, all done :D

it was a bit of a bugger to clean any marks off the dial face, then when you use a cloth it shreds on the sharp numbers :(

im happy with the results though

or sorry to sound thick but, your writing is red, on metal monkey site is that the backing? so yours is red so it will shine red and if i say get electic blue it will shine blue

it also has the clour of kph, does this mean that i could have the mph and kph differnt colours?

oh and being a smart arse gets you no where lol

;)

you can have the mph and the km/h in different colours.

the numbers stainless dial faces are actully laser cut, the red backing (or what ever colour you choo) shows through.

then they just stick the correct colour sticker for km/h on top of the coloured backing (in my case red)

sorry to sound thick

apology accepted :p
