Active spoiler fitting.

I like the look of the active spoiler but don't care about it being functional i.e moving up and down at speed.

Would it be possible to just get hold of the spoiler and fix it to the car or would i need all the other parts as well, looking at the epc it doesn't look too bad just wondered if anyone has done this.

I also have a FMIC.

So you're doing say 120 and decide to deploy it, right?

Those killjoys at Toyota tried to stop you from doing this citing aerodynamic forces etc (lies, all lies!), but surely we can improve on that eh?

What are you on about ? If its a dig its too blunt if its a joke its not funny ! If your serious Im sorry ;)

Plus 60 is the limit :)

Down all the time and up for ramps is why I ask.

To be fair John that reply was a little high on the sarchasm meter.

SupraDupra, i think someone looked in to this but i don't know how far they got.

All i want is to use the plastic section of the active spoiler in the permanent down position as i have a FMIC so it wouldn't have room to retract.

If the spoiler is down all the time am i opening myself up to problems ?

Yeah, OK, that's me having a drink sometimes:innocent:

The LONG version is that mr "T" doesn't want the active spoiler to be moving up and down when speeds are over 70mph or so, because the aerodynamic forces are very strong and they can damage or overpower the spoiler mechanism. (it faces straight against the airstream)

That's why you can turn it off and keep it there - or you can deploy it manually but only with the car stopped.

I wouldn't think there's a problem to have it extended permanently (as long as you never go over bumps or curbs that could damage it)

I have a saved webpage of someone who found out how to manually control it, I could dig it up if needed.:D

(although I'd still think it's not a good idea to mess with it)

Would be handy tho as I cant fit an aftermarket front cos of the low suspension, I wouldnt get out of the drive way, having the Auto Lip down perminantly would be a similar problem (when its down its 0.5 - 1" from the ground), so the option of simply UP and DOWN would be great for me.

Pixel if you could link me to that thread it would be some help, thanks.

What would be interesting would be to disconnect the Auto Down/Up and have it operate up and down when you like.

Sorry mate I never saw this post over a year ago;) I have had a quick look and haven't been able to find it. Emin has since changed his forum name to "Supra ST Myster"

I'm sure if you PM him he'll be abe to help.
