Underworld
If the question is comparing them to manuals, there should be no diff as the hiss as it only happens when foot comes off the gas. Thats about right aint it?
ADD
i open vented my stock one and it only made a real hish when in manu and lifting off hard or in auto booting it! so i think it is quite different
Ben-san
I've done both ADD, and an open vented stock BOV is very quiet compared to having an aftermarket one. If you're anywhere near South London you can come and hear mine.

Ben-san
...have you any sound or vid clips of it? 'Fraid not matey. I haven't got the equipment to do that. As James said, the flutter of an SSQV at different loads is rather unique. I doubt you'll regret fitting one, it's certainly not much different on auto or manual. Just depends how you are with the loud pedal

Pig
im on an auto, dont hear in with gear change at all (have traction control fuse out) but when you lift off its superb!
hadyn
I had an SSQV on mine and you could hear it when the box shifted when caning it, as well as when you let off the throttle. If you get an SSQV, make sure you get the purple fin for it, as the silver fin makes a very camp noise

I think it gives it more whistle from reading some sites, like the Big Blitz SUS Air Filters do, aswell as catching any dirt. Quote from a site: The user has the option of using a mini SUS power air cleaner or the open atmosphere design.
