Does anyone know how to reset the ecu and if there are any benefits from doing this? If you do the same to the jspec soop does it take more kindly to our grade of fuel? Just curious really. Ta Keef

Simply remove the main ECU fuse (marked EFI) from the main fuse box (in the engine bay) for about 30secs and then replace. Check any error codes first mate.

Why do you want to reset the ECU anyway?? You will probably get loads more info on the GT4OC forum mate

Cheers Chris, I thought I would ask on here as there are quite a good few knowledgeable people. I have done an error code check and its fine, I just have heard it banded around about an ECU reset for the soop and wondered if it would benefit from maybe adjusting to the fuel types used? Thanks, Keith

I would imagine that it's the same process on either car. I used to do mine on the GT4 whenever I was forced to change fuels from optimax (or back again) - from what I've learnt it simply sppeds up the 'learning process' that the ECU would go through normally i.e. it will adjust itself to new fuel anyway but re-setting it speeds up the process.

Ta, so if I have been running it on opti or esso or bp (SUL) for say the last 2000 miles then there is no point to an ecu reset?

Probably not mate. In an ideal world you'd drain the tank every time you change fuel (BP-Esso-Tesco-Shell etc.) and reset the ECU when you refill with a diferent fuel. In the real world it's not really needed unless you have been running one of the lower rated fuels and have just filled up with Optimax and intend to give it some welly straight off. In this case I personally would always play safe and reset.
