suprattgaz
Just to make sure, has anyone fitted a UK bonnet onto a J-spec (TT), and are there any problems I should be aware of b4 buying one for mine? Pretty sure it should just bolt straight on, but u never know?!
JohnA
You also have to buy dildoes for the front bumper if you want to show off passing it as UKSpec
Supra_Nish
Got one on mine, no probs fitting - straight swap. If you have a strut brace, the ducting under the scoop may hit it. You'll have to decide between the brace and the ducting.
Prof. Monkey
I have got one! Its good apart from loads of dust getting into the the engine bay!
npotts
When you fitted these scoops, did you guys actually cut a hole through to the engine bay then? I thought they were just bolted on for cosmetics? (obviously they serve a purpose on UK cars).... If you did cut a hole, what do you do about the firewall on the bonnet - cut into that as well??? JohnA
In the summer, underbonnet temp go skyhigh especially after you stop following a high-boost run. The lining helps also protect the paintwork from cracking or flaking.
npotts
hmmm, so the lining should stay in??? Has anyone tried placing the vent in and cutting through the lining? What are they like on a UK spec TT???
supra100
Dead easy to install. If you remove lining of bonnet you will see four holes in the frame. Those are the mounting holes for the scoop. Drill through these, mount scoop and chalk in an outer template. From the inner side of scoop you can easily work out the hole size. Once hole is cut you can easily make another template for lining to allow scoop ducting to mount. Whole job takes about an hour to do. There's a thread on http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/european_hood_scoop_install/index.html with print off templates etc. Depending what your using to cut bonnet cover rest of bonnet in paper/tape or cloth to avoid scratching paint etc. Happy days:D
