SimonB
BTW, I checked with my insurance company the other day (A plan), and they only wanted an extra 5% for a FMIC & aftermarket front nose... Worth asking anyway.

Trying to get a old stock one so that they can do a test against both to check it out (unfortunately most old ones are nearly shagged!) Another question, what about the power steering cooler and ad expansion tank? Do these need moving or replacing with smaller ones? Most of the other FMIC kits seem to come with smaller ones, so I guess so. If so, are these part of your kit, along with mounting brackets etc? PAS cooler is in the kit , made of SS and same as the hks/blitz part , expansion tank is not included , you either buy the nice shiny one from miami-rice or use one from a toyota starlet(£40 odd )Jubilee clips included but recomend Mykalor clips for added security (at extra cost) Dude

400BHP
Get your importer to check the "gift" box and you 'should' pay no import duty!

At the very least they can make it very inconvenient for you - have you any idea how slowly the wheels of customs can turn if they choose! It aint worth it! 400BHP
How would you get found out though, not doubting your comment but i'm just ignorant in the proceedure of importing.
Paul Laing
so the best size to go for then is 600x300x100 Paul

Because ANY scam that you try and pull the customs have seen it / done it! For instance if you try and de-value a car on the invoice - they have people there who will revalue it at the UK PRICE - on which you then have to pay VAT and import!! Yikes! Similarly goods into the country - they are not stupid and know how much things are - not saying you might get away with it - but it only takes the once and you are scuppered! Not meaning to sound doomladen - but it's not that simple!
400BHP
Oh right, I just thought that if a sealed package arrived that they wouldn't open it. I spose they do, one more way to roger you up the arse with more tax....
SimonB
The gift thing doesn't work anyway, gifts are only exempt up to £36 quid or something. However, you can get away with reducing the amount you pay. No one in customs is going to go to the trouble of trying to find the price of something if there's an invoice in there that doesn't look too wrong. Of course if a dirty great intercooler is valued at £3.50 or something they probably will! (Disclaimer - it's illegal for the company to do this of course etc etc. ) Sizes of ICs if anyone cares :- HKS Type S 23.6 x 11.9 x 2.6 = 730 cubic in. HKS Type R 23.6 x 11.9 x 3.8 = 1067 Greddy 3 row 23.6 x 11.8 x 3.9 = 1086 Blitz LM V-Spec 24.3 x 12.0 x 4.0 = 1166 Greddy 4 row 23.6 x 11.8 x 5.2 = 1448 All in inches 'cause it came from the US. SimonB
Just thought I'd update this with what it finally cost for my Blitz FMIC from Takakaira in Jap. Total was £891.15 all in. There's a thread in the members only section with details...
