RedM
What is the maximum length for a serial cable? I need to connect the pc to my RLTC, don't have a laptop and the car is down on the drive. I cannpt move the PC and reckon the shortest distance to be about 6-10 meters. Can I use a cable that long without losing data?
DamanC
Shouldnt be a problem fella, however finding a cable that long for a resonable price will be your main problem. hth
milocoon
You could remove it from the car (metal CPU box) with cable B (has the led and serial plug on that loom:blink: ) and power it with 12 V in the house by using pin 2 for +ve and pins 1 and 14 for negative. What do you need to change as the Digital Adjuster can change quite a few things. I`ve not needed a laptop at all
michael
Most people reckon 15m is about the most to go for to keep things working OK. I could flog you a laptop if you like

I need to input the wheel sizes although Mike Broadbent of Racelogic replied to my question on the RL Yahoo group and seem to imply that the wheel size values don't matter as long as the speed of each is roughly the same! michael
How much? I have a selection available - £30 > £150+ price range depending on spec / reliability / battery life
edd_t
why not get a serial to USB converter cable, can go even longer then
Boomer
I seem to remember that the RS-232 serial spec allowed for 50 foot of cable at 19200 baud. Decreasing the speed to 2400 baud would allow something like 3000ft but it may cost more to buy a 3000ft cable than one of the laptops....
