terribleturner
Im pretty sure im right but just need someone to second me before i start buying. When buying clamps i use the diameter of the pipe to find the right one?? So like below it's 98mm, so i'd be after say a clamp that's measurements are AROUND that size (94mm-102mm)?? The circumference doesn't come into play at all. Sound right??
Homer
Yup, you're right. All pipeworking, clamps, etc will be quoted in diameter (regardless whether its car parts or B&Q plumbing dept!). The curcumference on any clamp will be variable anyway..
terribleturner
Good job. Just needed peace of mind
SimonB
Yeah, but don't forget that hoses are normally sized by internal diameter whereas clamps are sold on the min and max size they will clamp which is the outside diameter of the hose they are going on. So you need to add some on for the thickness of the hose. That's caught me out before.
terribleturner
Yeah that had crossed my mind as it's definatly something that i would do. Sat there surrounded by clamps too small
terribleturner
OK these Mikalor clamps are bugging me. The pipe is 80mm, so add 5mm for the hose on top, but what size clamp do i buy?? 79-85mm or the 85-91mm?? Does the 85-91 tighten up alot more than 85?? Should i go for the 91-97mm clamp instead?? Just worried they are gonna be too loose.

terribleturner
I think that one was the TB to IC (where the reducer is). So what's the smallest say the 80-85 will tighten up to and what's the biggest??
