GetawayDriver
he imported it himself. it's his dream car and a tad expensive for a track car as far as his wallet (and mine) is concerned. he has to get it registered. 5-7k is a pretty big gamble - especially when there is a 99% chance it will fail on emissions. The don't just stick a sensor up the exhaust - they have an analyser that catches every single particle that comes out the exhaust. It counts the HC molecules one by one. We have the figures it has to meet, to stand a chance of passing it would need to register almost zero emissions on an MOT style emissions test which is the best pre-test we can do. Teri
Ben Linney at http://www.linney.org owns a model report for the R34 but I'm not too sure wether he only uses it for his own cars or hires it out, but it is worth a try. There is also a new emmissions lab down in Southampton were they write the model report and they can do the 3 stage EU emmissions. I know they have just passed one through the test but it cost the guy nearly £7k it had to go through 6 tests at £750 a time + labour + admin
GetawayDriver
Thanks Teri! Do you have the contact details for the test centre in southampton or the skyline owner?

Supra-Dupra
A *friend of a friend* is trying to import a late model R34 Skyline. He has tried everything to get it registered. even converting it into a caravan (don't laugh, it even had a microwave!), but to no avail. It looks as if he is going to have to fork out the 2k for an ESVA, only to see it fail on emmissions and noise before it even gets as far as an SVA. Anyone know anything or anyone that could help? I'm looking at you importers! The car has been in his garage now for almost a year. the man is close to breaking point. Cheers for your help Try sell it in Ireland, If all else fails, none of that over here.
mrdsukautos
it is true once you have a model report thats it but i could easily see the car going through the test a few times before getting it right so it would pass and thats only if you can actually achieve what is needed to pass this is the info I've got the basic Noise, Emissions and modifications test is £3,500.00 + VAT SVA test - SVA Uk or you can arrange for your own test directly with VOSA but the chances are it may not pass unless directly done with SVA UK (??) £375 + VAT - test fee £180 VOSA £50 + VAT Admin £25 + VAT test lane fee £7.50 + VAT Environmental charge total £717.56 + model report gives a grand total of £4830.06 you are forgetting the cost of parts and labour trying to achieve a pass on the car in the test I dont think he will get a pass or somebody would have done it already as this would be a top dollar model report
Teri
this includes the parts and labour and they have done 3 now acheiving that estimated total
