Daston
Hi guys Is it safe to remove the exhaust manifold's heat shield and leave it off? The reason I ask is I am getting a vibration at 6k rpm but not all the time and I am thinking it may be the problem.

Digsy
I'd say no. If it was ok for it not to be there then Toyota wouldn't have installed it in the first place.
Daston
lol that is true but I was going to a quick blast up the dual carrage way (5min form my house) just to see if the knocking goes
Digsy
If it's a one off for a test just check that any nearby wires or plastic parts are tie wrapped out of the way.

Big Supes
Bump.. Just in the process of replacing the turbo link pipes and life would a lot easier if I could lose this completely. One of the mounting points has corroded away also which is causing vibrations.
