Captain
I know theortically it's a fairly simple task, but im gonna change the oil on the Supra this w/e. As there's no such thing as a '5 minute job' I was wondering if there are any pearls of wisdom you guys may possess which could help me.... like recommending an oil, or a make of filter etc. Cheers Paul
Gordon F
Valvoline 5/50 oil and stock Toyota filter, tho' some do recommend a larger Lexus one.
Scooter
If you have a TT, access is tight. I've heard of people moving the Power steering reservoir to get access from the top, or removing the engine undertray and getting at it from underneath (this i spose is dependant on whether you have decent access). The filter will spill a fair amount of oil (probably seems alot more than it actually is, but certainly enough to make a mess) as you unscrew it the last few turns, so maybe rig up a bag into which the excess will run and into which you can let the filter drop, or at least something to channel the excess away to a drain tray. just hope your filter isn't done up as tight as mine was. SimonB
Yep, filter is a sod. I prefer the above method. Take the battery out, unbolt the power steering reservoir and hope you have four foot long bendy arms... Plastic bag method is definitely advisable as Scooter says.
